Re: Research Points
I have 1075 scientists. Problem is that at my stage there is nothing else to research except for 2% reduction in costs of standing army or navy or scientists or +10 satisfaction & +20 inhabitants per colony.
The point is, at around 550k per research, is it worth it? Or should I just close down research and use the money generated for something more useful?

Re: Research Points
I have 477 scientists and it all depends on how fast you want to research things and how much money you want to spend on researching. Having 1075 scientists like Mahniex allows you to research topics really quick, but it costs a lot to fund scientists and upgrading your academies would also became very expensive. I think having 400-500 scientists is a general number.
And the benefits of the "...Future" topics are pretty good, but in your case Mahniex, it's a waste of money to put 1075 scientists to work; especially if you don't really care if you get the benefits from the topics. Lowering the number of scientists to around 350-500 is economically efficient and keeps a steady flow of research points.

Re: Research Points
I have 493 scientists, but I conduct a lot of experiments. In fact I conducted so many that every day when I tell Amp about it, he ended up moving to my island to get the crystals. right now it costs 146,070 without an optician. With it I just need 99,328 which is a huge difference. But i am able to generate 645 crystal per hour.

Re: Research Points
I think that once you reach the future scientific topics giving the 2% reduction then you are near the end. I have reduced the number of Academies in my towns to use the building space for other buildings. As we get bigger we will need dumps to hold the resources needed to upgrade the buildings.
If you want the highest research score, you will need to keep a high number of scientists but it's not for me.
