How many trade ships do you have?

I have 96 -and they simply never are enough. I find that moving around my supplies is always limited by the number of ships. Trading is also limited as I cannot deliver the supplies I wish.
Ships are expensive -when you hit 96 ships I think they cost over 230k each.
My problem is exacerbated by the huge distance my colonies are scattered from each other Which means 12 or 13 hour voyages

I feel really bad for you Mahniex. My colonies aren't more than 3 and a half hours from each other. I think the farthest is something like 3:12. You definitely should buy more ships. I have 120 ships and they now cost around 650k and I still need more ships. Even with them costing so much, I try to keep the amount of gold I have at least 2m so I can pay for resources when necessary (like GR upgrades)

This is the importance of having close towns, and I thought a hour and a half was bad. I have 71 right now, and finding that they're barely cutting it.

I never realised ships would be so expensive when you got to 120 ships - 600k per ship? Yikes!!!
Meanwhile my gold supply averages close to 10000 - as in life, I spend it as soon as I get it
My colonies are so scattered because when colonising, I choose the best colonies with the highest upgrades. That obviously results in scattered colonies. There is one advantage though - I have a trading post in each one and I usually can find resources needed at good prices from one colony or the other. But the travelling is killing me.......
I wish I had some Ambrosia......

99 Ships!

I have 115 ships and I also have a Poseidon's miracle. So that cuts the time. You could also ask the alliance to ship the stuff from their towns and put them into one of your towns when you upgrade your GR so you will have enough ships. Just remember to give them back the resources withing 48 hours or else you will get banned.

Yeah, I do that sometimes when I don't have enough ships.

I keep my gold around a million to prevent troops from being unable to attack. Keeping it high is good as long as you aren't killing yourself to do it

Well it's easy to make lots of gold. Especially when you sell things all the time and have little to no army.

It's important that you treat your gold like your bank account. You don't go to the bank, withdraw everything, and then go shopping and spend all but $20, do you?

My bank account is empty anyway. My Ikariam economy is better than the World economy, but only just.

Try and get onto an island with the Poseidon Miracle. This vastly speeds up the ships and is great. Those sharing my Poseidon should upgrade their temples because we have a top level miracle and it's depleted by lack of faith.

A bit like real religion with not enough people going to Church.

If you are transferring goods to other players try and use the shortest route possible. The other player can move it to the town they want in a one way journey instead of you doing an even longer two way journey.

I now own 146 ships which goes up to 154 with the 8 7th-day bonus ships. Interesting to see the progression of # of ships.

Now at 137 and jumping to 147 with the bonus.

haha i'm still at 135...when i get rid of my army, i'll go on a spending spree or something.
